How to get around admission into University in Asia
When you think of going to a country or continent for education, you tend to think of SAT tests, TOEFL, GRE and GMAT. The good news is that not many universities in Asia require you to take these tests so you needn’t spend hours reading SAT test books! However, many universities will ask you to sit for a test that they will have made on campus and these aren’t too tough usually. Many students manage to get through and these tests are considered to be formalities- not strict requirements. Many students who have not done particularly well in their exams may be asked to sit an exam so they can get admission into a good university in Asia.
Having said that, quite a few universities do require that students take the GMAT test before they can be admitted into the University of First Choice. If you plan on going to Singapore the National University of Singapore Business School and Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University require that students must have obtained a GMAT score of 650-700. These are the lowest scores required to get into these universities in Asia.
Then, you’ve got the School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University and China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in China which require students to have secured a minimum of 650 marks in the GMAT test.
In Pakistan you may not be required to have taken the GMAT exam though some universities do require students to have taken certain exams such as the LCAT which is a test that one must pass if he/she would like to get into the Lahore School of Management Sciences. The GMAT test results are usually required to gain admission into business schools in Asia. However, a greater number of universities do not even need you to have taken the GMAT exam.
Do your research before applying anywhere. One thing is for sure- you don’t have to worry about taking a SAT exam because these do not apply to the Asian region. SAT exams are to be taken only by those students who intend upon going to Canada, USA or Australia to further their education. It is possible that though you may not have to take the GMAT, SAT or GR exam, you would definitely have to take some test or the other so that your admission is finalized.
