University admission in Australia – How to apply
How to Apply to Universities in Australia
Universities in Australia have two semesters in a year. February is usually the beginning of the first semester, and the second starts in July and one can apply in either of the semesters. The dates in which the schools start vary according to the different universities. It can be a bit of a process to apply for the degree and visa, and other preparations and so it is advised to start applying a year before you can start your desired course.

When you have decided on the university to go to, go to the website of the university and in the option for international students opt for how to apply. It is also very important to take note of the application deadline of that university.

*The first step it to download the application form from the university’ site.

*Then after that find details and contacts of that university’s agent whom you will send the application and other documents to. The documents are certificates to your previous school and qualifications obtained. Evidence of your knowledge and level of English speaking and writing, other additional documents of work experiences and previous studies. It must be noted that each university has specific requirements, which can be the above and more.

*Then when your application is successful, a ‘Letter of offer’ is given out which you must sign to confirm and accept the offer and then send it back to the university. This can be done by emailing the letter after scanning it or sending it by mail. The letter is a written agreement in which there is information on fees, refunds and gives information on the course you will be doing. It is important to make sure you understand the details of the letter before you agree to anything and to also keep a copy of it.

*Once you have accepted, you are expected to pay a deposit, in which you will then receive an ‘Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment’ (eCoE) by email. This will state the starting date of your course, the total fees of your course and how long the course will take.

*The last step it to apply for your visa. Take note not to accept an offer or pay tuition fees when you have not confirmed if you qualify for the visa. Details of the eCoE are needed when applying for the visa through the Department of Immigration and Citizenship‘s online facility.
