Congratulations you have been offered a place to study abroad, but how do you fund your programme? The good news is there are many funding and scholarship opportunities available to you to choose from. So you know nearly all the scholarship opportunities follow certain criteria as listed below.

Some are awarded based on merit: A few of these funding opportunities are based on academic excellence or abilities. Track record performances and academic transcripts could be used to award such. At times, some of these scholarships may be given to sports or athletes for excellence recognition to study abroad.

There are some based on applicant’s specifics: They may consider prospective students based on gender, race, religion, family and medical history, ethnicity etc. Quite some time now, these funding opportunities have been used by schools and international organizations, NGOs etc to help students from developing countries or emerging market to study abroad

Incentive specific: There is competition in the number of people studying abroad; some countries do award funding opportunities to prospective students to lure them to study in their country especially if the student applicant course is relevant to their economy. I would suggest you do check with the relevant government bodies of the country of your interest for available scholarships/funding opportunities

School specific: Some colleges and universities do have specific programme funding opportunities for home and international students. Often these universities have research topics and they may be looking for qualified applicants to fill the opportunity. Each school follows certain procedures before awarding such. I would suggest the best is to check with the school even before making any application to study there.

Field specific: These days, many schools offer subject based specific scholarships especially to prospective students in the technical areas. We have all the major universities profiles on here, do check and join the forum for relevant information.

International and home scholarship/funding opportunities: Many universities and colleges now offer scholarships for prospective students. However, some are just for home students, while others are for international students. The best way to know which you are qualified for is to check on the university profile of your choice and join the forum for relevant information and advice. is here to help and provide you with all you need to study abroad.
