Many students are terrified of giving the SAT exams for US colleges and then there are those who, despite their best efforts, do not do as well as they thought they would and so they give up. As if the pressure of having to sit through college exams isn’t bad enough already! The good news is that there are certain colleges that you could get into without SAT, TOEFL, GRE or GMAT. Here are some of them:

• Smith College
• New York University
• Wake Forest University
• American University
• Bryn Mawr College
These are examples of a few but there are many other colleges that you could get into without these tests. Be mindful of one thing though- just because you can get into University in the USA with or without SAT, TOEFL, GRE or GMAT, that does not mean that you should. Generally speaking, these tests help determine how good you are as a student and how much command you have over the English language and simple mathematics. Another point to keep in mind is that even though the requirements of different universities would keep changing every now and then, a majority of US colleges do require you to sit the SAT tests.
For those of you who are foreign students looking to get into these colleges, the TOEFL helps judge your language skills and vocabulary. It is always a good idea to have taken this exam. Also take into account the fact that a number of students decide that they want to transfer to another college for a few semesters- if you decide to do this midway and the college you want to get into requires you to sit these exams, you may have to take them. Even preparing for them while you’d be at college would be difficult considering the fact that the semester system is prevalent in America.

Most colleges (especially Ivy League Colleges) do require that you sit through the SAT tests regardless of whether you are a foreign student or a local one residing in the US. Foreign students are required to take GMAT and TOEFL tests too as far as these colleges are concerned.
Examples of college that do require you to take these tests are:

• Yale University
• Harvard University
• John Hopkins University
• Columbia University
• Stanford University
